Geiger-Mueller Detectors
The Geiger counter is the most commonly used radiation detector on campus today. They are in the design of a pancake or end window configuration. These probes were primarily designed for the detection “energetic” radioactive emissions. G-M probes are required for Approvals that are permitted to possess more than one millicurie (combined) of any energetic emitting radionuclides such as:
- Phosphorus-32
- Cesium-137
- Strontium-90
